Visiting Trentino Alto Adige, one finds a locale of contrasts and stunning natural beauty.  This self- governed, northernmost point of Italy, bordering Switzerland and Austria, is perhaps, the least Italian of all Italy’s regions.  Here, German is widely spoken, with Italian often being the second language. A third language finds its home here as well: Ladin, a harmonically unique sounding language composed of a Romanized version of the Germanic dialects once spoken in the region. Due to the strength of the languages’ influence, cities and towns of the region find themselves with two names: cities in the region include Bolzano-Bozen, Merano-Meran, Tirol, Bressanone- Brixen, Brunico and Vipiteno.

The region itself known as South Tyrol, Trentino Alto Adige is a majestic image of mountain peaks, medieval castles, lush valleys, sparkling lakes, rivers, torrents, and hospitable towns. Here one finds the grandiose Dolomites, which render its surrounding regions a dramatic scene. There is no skiing in Italy like the skiing in Trentino Alto Adige. This destination has long been one of the best vacation spots for Italians. 

The charming cities of Trentino Alto Adige also provide endless activities; Bolzano is a great starting place for daytrips to visit the many castles within the spectacular region, including Castle Runkelstein. Just outside of Merano stands a symbol of Trentino Alto Adige, Castle Tirolo. Merano, a well known alpine ski resort, finds itself surrounded by snow capped mountain tops and is called the “City of Flowers”; Due to its mild winters, and cool summers, this region is a hidden gem tucked comfortably into its surroundings. Visting Alto Adige, one will find a lovely mix of glorious natural scenery, along with charming villages and towns hosting a range of art, dining, and shopping opportunities, not to mention incredible hospitality.
